Project:  Computational analysis of next generation sequence data to identify mutations and rearrangements
Disciplines:  Computer Science, Biology
Mentor:  David Kwiatkowski, Professor of Medicine; Senior Physician, (EAS), dk@rics.bwh.harvard.edu, Phone: 781-775-7285
Mentor URL:  http://www.kwiatkowskilab.org  (opens in new window)
Background:  NOTE: This project is being offered by a Caltech alum and will take place in Boston, Massachusetts.

We use next generation sequencing to search for mutations in several genes as part of research on a human genetic disease, tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), and cancer.
Description:  The student will develop and implement software to perform analysis of next generation sequencing data files, searching for mutations and chromosomal rearrangements.
