Project:  Design and production of an automated microscope

Background:  Our lab has developed a single cell assay called seqFISH using single molecule microscopy to profile the overall state of the cells. The recent papers include applying seqFISH to mouse brains, embryonic stem cells, and embryos.
Description:  SURF students can participate in any of the following projects.
1. Design automated fluidics components for the microscope.
2. Design computational tools to analyze "big data" images.
3. Use bioinformatics tools to design oligonucleotide probes.
Student Requirements:  Course works in Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science, or Bioinformatics are strongly recommended. Especially ME13 and 14.
Programs:  This AO can be done under the following programs:

       SURF    Caltech students only
