Project:  UAV Remote Sensing for Vegetation Health
Disciplines:  Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering
Mentor:  Darren Drewry, (JPL),, Phone: (818) 393-2992
Mentor URL:  (opens in new window)
Background:  Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and advanced miniaturized sensors, are providing new opportunities to monitor vegetation growth, water use and productivity. This opportunity will combine sample collection and processing, and/or algorithm development to advance methods that relate vegetation health to remote sensing indicators.
Description:  This project will provide an opportunity for a student to gain experience in empirical data collection, data analysis and algorithm development. Duties over the fellowship period will take advantage of the students interests and skills, and will contribute to an ongoing project that is utilizing cutting edge UAV and sensor technologies to provide real-time estimates of agricultural and forest health.
