Project:  Software Development for Intraocular-Pressure-Sensing Handheld Detector
Disciplines:  Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
Mentor:  Hyuck Choo, Professor, (EAS),, Phone: 6263958774
Mentor URL:  (opens in new window)
AO Contact:  Jeong Oen Lee,
Background:  -The Choo Lab has been pursuing development of the state-of-the-art biomedical systems for managing chronic diseases and expediting related medical research.

-One of our project associated with an implantable optical sensor for ophthalmic application is about to move on to a human trial stage and therefore there is a huge demand for easy-to-use software that efficiently stores/computes/retrieves a large amount of biomedical information generated from our real-time monitoring system in pre-clinical experiments.
Description:  We need to develop easy-to-use software interface for our state-of-the-art implantable optical sensors. This software is essential for bio-medical researchers who perform machine learning experiment, device characterization, and extensive pre-clinical tests using animals and also for non-technical end-users such as clinicians and patients. During the development, the applicant will understand our bio-medical system including implantable microsensors, optical setup, electrical hardware, machine learning algorithm that aims to address critical ophthalmic diseases. This project specifically emphasizes the software development and algorithm improvement.

The core codes based on C-language and Matlab will be offered, but the applicant needs to understand the pre-developed codes that interconnect sensors/detectors and main computer (Mac OS). He/She will combine the existing codes one-by-one to build the complete software system.
