Announcements of Opportunity are posted by JPL technical staff for the SURF@JPL program. Each AO indicates whether or not it is open to non-Caltech students. If an AO is NOT open to non-Caltech students, please DO NOT contact the mentor.

**Students applying for JPL projects should complete a SURF@JPL application instead of a "regular" SURF application.

**Students pursuing opportunities at JPL must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents.

Project:  Developing effective solutions and implementations for future climate challenge
(JPL AO No. 14241)

Background:  Recent studies have concluded that global warming could exceed 1.5 to 2°C over the pre-industrial period in the next 20-50 years (Ma et al., 2022).
Description:  This SURF program prepares students to face this climate change in their lifetime through strategic planning, simulation, and data analysis projects. Potential students should analyze strategic options for climate change mitigation and adaptation, including industrial, energy, political, economic, agricultural, atmospheric, geological and social measures (e.g. Zhang et al. 2022).
