Students pursuing opportunities at JPL must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents.
Each AO indicates whether or not it is open to non-Caltech students. If an AO is NOT open to non-Caltech students, please DO NOT contact the mentor.

|Project:||Dynamics of the Atmospheres of Outer Planets and Titan and the Ancient Climate of Mars|

|Background:||We study the dynamical meteorology of the outer planets and Titan, and the ancient climate of Mars. Both theoretical calculations and computer modeling of the atmospheres are involved.|
|Description:||Projects for 2017 will include one of the following (i) helping the mentor develop a model of Saturn's gravitational tidal effect on Titan's atmosphere, (ii) developing software to calculate the vibrational normal modes of Saturn, which are thought responsible for producing certain spiral density waves in Saturn's rings; this allows Saturn's rings to be used as a sort of seismometer of Saturn's interior, or (iii) Exploring models of the ancient climate of Mars.|
