Students pursuing opportunities at JPL must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents.
Each AO indicates whether or not it is open to non-Caltech students. If an AO is NOT open to non-Caltech students, please DO NOT contact the mentor.

|Project:||Mars On-orbit Sample Transfer Technologies (MOSTT)|
|Disciplines:||Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science|
|Background:||The Mars Sample Return (MSR) concept is a three mission campaign to return Mars samples to Earth. The campaign could involve a caching rover to collect samples, a sample retrieval rover to fetch samples and deliver them to Mars orbit, and a Sample Return Orbiter (SRO) to return the samples from Mars orbit to Earth.|
|Description:||This project focuses on producing a development testbed for the on-orbit capture, contraint, cleaning, and transfer of the Orbital Sample (OS).|
|Student Requirements:||Mechanical design and assembly. Strong CAD skills required, Solidworks desired. Prototyping skills and experience desired. Robotics/electronics experience and familiarity with Arduino/C beneficial. Test design, data collection, and processing.|
