Each AO indicates whether or not it is open to non-Caltech students. If an AO is NOT open to non-Caltech students, please DO NOT contact the mentor.

Project:  Europa Lander Sample Acquisition
Disciplines:  Materials Engineering, Robotics

Background:  Advanced development of hardware and testbeds for a future mission to Europa.
Description:  Candidate will be involved in helping to setup and operate testbeds and facilities to support development of sample acquisition hardware for a future mission to Europa. This includes working with the development team to develop material analogs and recipes, setting up and operating robotic testbeds, data analysis, as well as the documentation of processes and procedures for the above.

Student Requirements:  Candidate should have experience working in a lab and lab environment. Desire to have someone with a background and understanding of rapid design and manufacturing processes. Experience working with robotic systems, test equipment, and data acquisition saftware is highly desired.
