Background: |
The goal of this lab is to understand the molecular mechanisms of membrane protein biogenesis and quality control. Interactions in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the mitochondria are a particular focus for the group.
|
Description: |
We use a combination of structural and functional techniques to isolate specific proteins and characterize their function within the cell. Broadly, students will aid the lab in reconstituting cell pathways and protein interactions in vitro, as well as structural analysis of the proteins using imaging equipment. Students can anticipate learning a variety of molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA cloning and gel electrophoresis.
