Project:  Analysis on consumer's choice using math and computer science
Disciplines:  Economics, Mathematics
Mentor:  Kota Saito, Professor, (HSS), saito@caltech.edu
Mentor URL:  https://saito.caltech.edu/  (opens in new window)
Background:  I am using mathematics and computer science to analyze consumers' choice. For information about the content of RA work, please visit my webpage

I explained my project in the following video: Please watch it.

Description:  I am looking for students who can satisfy the following requirements:

Must:
1. Comfortable for using Python;
2. An undergraduate training on Linear Algebra and Real Analysis;
3. An undergraduate training on Probability and Statistics and discrete mathematics;

If you have an experience of problem solving such as International Mathematics Olympics or Putnam Mathematical Competition, you are likely to fit with the projects very well.

The tasks that I will ask are as follows:
1: Weekly discussion with me and my coauthors
2: Programming
3: Mathematical Analysis
References:  I wrote one paper with one undergraduate student, Alec Sandroni, who was my RA through SURF. We solved an important open question in decision theory. Alec and I presented at major international conferences in economics and computer science.

Here is the link to the paper

This is a good example showing types of projects that I am working on.
Student Requirements:  It is a great opportunity for students who is
(a) interested in how math and computer science can be used to analyze human behavior (especially, consumers' choice); or
(b) considering going to graduate schools since I would be able to write a recommendation letter based on the tasks that the students will perform.
Programs:  This AO can be done under the following programs:
