Background: |
NASA's Earth Science Division has funded a research activity referred to as Climate Science Adaptation Investigations (CASI) that is designed to develop science-based assessments of projected climate change impacts at NASA center locations (e.g. JPL). Such information is intended to offer NASA center/laboratory guidance for plans and decisions that concern future infrastructure plans, local environmental sustainability, and related workforce logistics that might be sensitive to anticipated changes in the regional climate over the coming decades.
|
Description: |
Collect research results from the CASI investigators (~10) on the topics they've developed climate change research results for and assemble and refine them to produce a high quality report relevant to JPL, and possible for other NASA centers depending on time available. Research results include projected changes for the means and extremes in temperature, precipitation, air quality, sea level rise, wildfire, etc. The audience for the resulting report(s) is JPL, and possibly other NASA center, leadership. The intern will work with Earth science, infrastructure and laboratory leadership at JPL, Earth science leadership at NASA Earth Science Division, and the NASA Chief Scientist and Climate Advisor.
